I've already lost count of the days in Minecraft, I just know it starts on day 1. So I'm not sure how much to put into each post but I'll play it by ear and see how it goes. ANYWAY, god I hate this intro shit. When you enter the world for the first time, you get a single spawn point and it doesn't change (oh joy). From the videos I've seen, you usually start close to the water instead of like 10 miles inland and surrounded by mountains.

| My Minecraft vista starting point |
Minecraft doesn't completely fullscreen so this is the best I can do...actually it's not, but I'm taking too many pictures to care. As you can see, you start with nothing. But worry not. Your fists are suitable for destroying most simple materials like...trees? Yes, trees. Punch trees for lumber gogogo.
Seriously though, lumber is like the foundation of this game. You need it to build a workbench which you can use to craft tools and other materials.

Here, I've already made my workbench. I've also converted most of my lumber into wood planks and those into wood sticks. I also picked up some feathers courtesy of a dead chicken.

It's easy to see that you NEED a workbench. But I guess I should explain how crafting works first. Not only do you need the right combination of materials, you also need to draw the item you want with those materials. So if you wanted to make a pickaxe, you have to go to the workbench, put two wood sticks in the bottom center and true center spaces, and three wood/gold/stone/steel/diamond across the top three. As I make more tools and things I'll show you what I'm talkin bout Willis.
Another thing I should mention is that I'm playing on Hard, because I'm a real man. This means enemies spawn in dark areas: caves and night time. I think there's only four types - big spiders (big.), zombies (normal slow zombie), skeletons (they shoot arrows at you), and creepers (they go al qaeda and blow up on your ass if you are close enough) - yep four. With that being said, structural protection is highly suggested. Sooooo I builded a hut.

| So homey |
And that about sums up day one. Why did this take so long to write? Maybe I'll do a couple a day and make them shorter, who knows. This ain't nazi germany but you just read the first day of MEIN KRAFT
How does one acquire Mine Craft?
ReplyDeletehttp://minecraft.net/ The alpha right now is like $13, but you don't have to buy the full game when it comes out.
